Modern Jive dance in Adelaide takes the best from as many dance styles as possible (Latin, Jazz, Salsa, Dirty Dancing, Nightclub, Rock n Roll and Swing) and blends them into a dance that can be used in almost any type of music.

You can dance modern jive at weddings, functions, pubs, nightclubs, jazz bands, formal dinners, parties and anywhere else you can think of.
You learn modern jive as you go, learning a dance move at a time until you can modern jive an entire song connecting move after move which we call "Freestyle".
Before you know it, you know a few dance moves (even fun, funky ones like modern jive leans, dips and slides) and you're away impressing your friends and family with your dance skills at parties and events anywhere.
And guess what.........
When you learn to dance modern jive it is taught
"move by move"
so there is very little footwork!

The New Fast Track Dance Workshop Series are three modern jive workshops designed to help teach you how to dance and work towards becoming a competent intermediate dancer who is comfortable on any dance floor, anywhere! The dance workshops will also give you the foundation to become a great dancer as well as being an opportunity to socialise with other modern jivers.
 
NO PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE
is necessary to participate in these dance workshops. If you’ve only done a couple of dance classes then the modern jive workshops are perfect for you to get some more detailed and personalised dance tips, while if you’re already an intermediate dancer it’s an opportunity to really practice and hone your modern jive skills. The dance workshops will be a great way to start your dancing year off.

With 117 dancers attending our Friday Night City Dance Venue last week, Jive by Night really has so much to be grateful for!
We owe a big thank you to everyone involved in Jive by Night, both staff and customers and it is because of them that we have achieved such an amazing success, and are sharing the joy of dance with so many people!
Thank you to all who attended our dance class night Friday, and thank you to everyone who has supported Jive by Night in any way, shape or form, because even if you're just there with a smile, that smile makes a difference to the positivity of our dance community. With so many keen dancers around I think the next stop will be for Jive by Night to storm the interstate modern jive dance competitions.
Now you're all convinced about our Friday night dance venue, come check out our Monday and Wednesday Venues, which have been growing as well (37 people on Monday and 27 people on Wednesday). You get alot more one on one and personal time dancing with our teachers, which helps your dancing even more for the Club JBN on Friday Night.
Grab a Monthly Pass and come along and check them out.
*Remember* The best way to really improve your dancing, and remember what we teach you is to dance at least 6 times a month!

For those of you for whom wineries aren't your cup of tea, or you're just busy during the day, why not bring a car up for the evening and join the rest of us at the lovely Lyndoch hotel for dinner followed by dancing and socialising with a great bunch of people under the country stars! It's going to be an amazing night out, and a chance to really get away and refresh yourself!

The Fast Track - Beginner Dance Workshop Series are Three Workshops designed for Beginner Dancers and early Intermediates. They aim to consolidate your basic dancing skills, and help you feel comfortable on a dance floor anywhere. It's the Fastest way to becoming a Competent Intermediate Modern Jive Dancer, and also covers the building blocks needed at the basic level to move towards being an advanced dancer.
It's also a great opportunity to get to know the other dancers who are loving their dancing as much as you are!
For those of you who have been regularly attending modern jive danceclasses, or are even already doing the Intermediate Dance Classes but haven't yet done a Fast Track, I really recommend this Dance Workshop Series. It's an opportunity to really practice your core dance moves and dance skills, and really start feeling 100% comfortable with the material in your Black Books - Beginner Moves and Concepts Diary. This Modern Jive Workshop Series is open to complete Beginners, as it is also a great way to be introduced to all the beginner dance material in a more detailed workshop environment than our general classes.

THE "FLAMING SAMBUCAS!"
December 27th, 2008 @ The German Club Dance Ballroom in Adelaide!
The date is set, the dance band in Adelaide is booked, and planning for a phenomenal end-of-year dance event is underway! The Flaming Sambucas are a marvellous four piece band who many of you would have already had the pleasure of dancing to at the Arkaba or other popular venues on the Adelaide scene. They are great entertainment, marvellous people, and their repertoire is perfect for dancing Modern Jive to.
So mark December 27th, 2008 in your diary now, and be ready to come out to the brilliant German Club Ballroom for a night of live music, fun, friends and dancing! It's a great opportunity to bring friends and family to show off to, and the perfect time to work off some of that Christmas food!

The Beginner Dance DVDs are available now, and contain demonstrations of the beginner dance moves that you learn at a typical Jive by Night class. They are great as a companion to The Black Book - Beginner Dance Moves and Dance Concepts Diary, as you can search through The Black Book for the tips and tricks about the move, and then see the modern jive move demonstrated on the DVD.
The Black Book is book of modern jive moves, techniques and tips for beginner dancers and is available now! It also has exercises for you to take away and practice at home. It contains all you need to know in order to move into the intermediate modern jive class.
It's partly a reminder booklet, and partly a checklist for you to keep track of your own dance progress. It's an absolutely amazing source of modern jive and dance information, and is a really comprehensive look at everything you might want to know about starting to dance.
The core dance and modern jive moves and an understanding of the techniques covered in the Black Book will be assumed if you are participating in the Intermediate Dance Classes, and it will also be a great reminder of your freestyle basics as an Intermediate Modern Jiver.
It's easy to read, easy to use, and designed to help with the hardest part of learning to dance - remembering what you've learnt!

Share The Goss...
1) It's actually really difficult to spin or do aerials when your core muscles are spasming from too much laughter! =) At least you know you're having fun - well, our Wednesday dance class certainly was!
2) I just want to say again, "Happy Birthday" to my wonderful sister Ali, who is now 18, and can legally get herself into trouble! I know she had a great birthday, and thanks to everyone who helped make it so wonderful! Thanks Ali for all your great efforts for Jive by Night, you're a wonderful dancer and an amazing sister. Happy Birthday!
